Job summary

Queen Creek Unified School District in San Tan Valley, AZ is seeking a Student Support - Classified staff member to assist in supervision and instruction of students under direct supervision. You will support teachers with classroom activities and perform routine clerical tasks.

The position is 29 hours per week, 9 months, non-exempt, with duties including reinforcing learning, assisting with independent study, and maintaining confidentiality of student information.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Ability to work well with students, staff and parents; good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate general office machines.
  • Ability to organize and to prioritize.
  • Experience working with elementary level students.
  • Must pass a background clearance
  • Must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card

Responsibilities

  • Works with individual students or groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  • Assists independent study, enrichment work and remedial work for the classroom.
  • Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information as is expected of teachers.
  • Participates in in-service training programs as required.
  • Exercises positive problem solving behavior and conflict resolution skills.
  • Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, lunch periods and field trips.

JOB GOAL:

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

180 Days; 9 Months

COMPENSATION:

Per QCUSD salary schedule for applicable position

EVALUATION:

Initial evaluation to be completed no later than ninety (90) days after first day of work; thereafter, annually by supervisor.

HOURS:

29 hours per week - Monday-Friday

CLASSIFICATION:

Non-Exempt

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Works with individual students or groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  • Assists independent study, enrichment work and remedial work for the classroom.
  • Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information as is expected of teachers.
  • Participates in in-service training programs as required.
  • Exercises positive problem solving behavior and conflict resolution skills.
  • Adheres to the dress code appropriate for the site and job.
  • Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, lunch periods and field trips.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of protected student and staff member information even after no longer being employed.
  • Confers with teacher and parents, if requested by teacher, to assist in the evaluation of students' progress in relations to established educational objectives.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned to advance district priorities.
