Instructional Assistant II, Main Campus (PT), CP1N20273CIL

The College of DuPage, located 27 miles west of downtown Chicago, is a comprehensive community college with a rich history of over 50 years. Our 273-acre campus offers nine associate degrees and various professional and technical certificates, facilitating seamless articulation into baccalaureate programs with our higher education partners.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide instructional support services in the Learning Commons to assist students, instructors, and staff.
  • Assist students in identifying learning needs and recommend appropriate support services.
  • Refer students and community members to other college departments as needed.
  • Orient instructors to Learning Commons procedures and programs, including course components.
  • Maintain and organize student resources and reference manuals for academic support services.
  • Assist students with registration and use of the online COMPASS math placement test through individual or group sessions.
  • Schedule workshops, create promotional materials, and conduct placement test workshops.
  • Enforce Learning Commons policies by monitoring student activities.
  • Maintain proficiency in software used for recording student requests and referrals.
  • Participate in orientation sessions for students and faculty, and represent the Learning Commons at outreach events.
  • Coordinate with off-campus instructional assistants to ensure consistency of procedures and materials.
  • Manage Learning Commons equipment and media resources, supervise student workers, and assign tasks.
  • Demonstrate the use of educational software and monitor the effectiveness of procedures, updating documentation as needed.
  • Collect data and assist in surveys for program review and assessment.
  • Open and close the work area, respond to emergencies, and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Two years of college or equivalent experience in an educational setting; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, proficiency in spoken English.
  • Basic computer skills; prior experience in education is a plus.
Working Conditions:
  • Use of multi-line telephones, FAX, computers, printers, copiers, and media equipment.
  • Part-time, 20 hours weekly, with day, evening, and weekend hours.
  • Physical ability to handle instructional materials and equipment up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to access testing and study materials and verify data visually.
Part-Time Work Schedule:

1 pm - 7:15 pm, Monday through Thursday

Hiring Range:

Starting at $20.14/hr., based on experience. The college offers fringe benefits including retirement, holiday pay, personal time, and discounts on classes.
