Trinity Oaks Elementary in Trinity, FL seeks an Instructional Assistant IA to support ESE students under a Highly Qualified Teacher. The role assists with classroom activities and ensures access to instructional resources across the DJJ/ESE programs.

The position is 189 days per year, full-time with benefits. Starting immediately; eligible for district trainings, background screening, and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Education or related field (or 60 semester hours).
• ParaPro Assessment qualifying score required or condition for qualified applicants.
• All employees must satisfactorily complete required trainings.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher(s) in delivering a well-organized educational environment.
• Support students to access instructional programs and resources.
• Work under supervision of a Highly Qualified Teacher in ESE/DJJ programs.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting teacher(s) in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning educational environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resources, under the direct supervision of a Highly Qualified Teacher, as applicable to the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) and Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) programs.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

• Associate degree from an accredited institution in the field of Education, or related field
• OR
• 60 semester hours of college/university level course work from an accredited institution
• OR
• Obtain qualifying score to pass the ParaPro Assessment .A condition of employment may be considered for qualified applicants.
• All employees must satisfactorily complete any required trainings
• All employees must meet all mandated federal and state health requirements

Instructional Assistant Student Support ESE:

Satisfactory completion required within 6-month period of the following training and/or certification provided by the District:

• Pediatric First Aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• First Aid
• Medication administration
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
• In addition, CPR and First Aid training must be completed every two years and CPI training needs to be kept current and renewed on a regular basis.

Pasco County Schools utilizes the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse for fingerprinting and Level II background screening.
