Job description

Summary: Works under the direct supervision of program management to provide functional skills training and personal care to disabled customers.

Qualifications:

  1. Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED; experience in day or residential programs serving persons with disabilities preferred.
  2. Language Ability: Ability to read, write, and understand English. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  3. Math Ability: Basic mathematical skills.
  4. Computer Skills: Working knowledge of personal computers (highly desirable).
  5. Driving Skills: Valid CDL and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provides group and individual instruction daily
  2. Provides personal care as needed, including bathroom duties
  3. Assists with behavioral management techniques as per instructional plans
  4. Records daily progress data towards ISP objectives
  5. Maintains classroom equipment and facility cleanliness
  6. Ensures compliance with Community Care Licensing regulations (Title 17 & 22)
  7. Builds rapport with customers, staff, and stakeholders
  8. Provides transportation for customers as needed
  9. Contributes to the development of individualized service plan objectives
  10. Participates in customer meetings and agency training
  11. Performs additional duties as assigned

Physical Demands:

The employee must be able to:

  • Stand, stretch, twist, and reach for prolonged periods
  • Lifting 50 lbs or more
  • Use hands for handling or feeling
  • Talk and hear

Frequently, the employee must:

  • Stand, walk, climb, balance, and drive
