Job summary

United Cerebral Palsy Associations Inc seeks a caregiver to provide functional skills training and personal care to disabled customers under supervision.

You will deliver group and one-to-one instruction, assist with daily living activities, transport customers when needed, and support behavioral plans while documenting progress.

The role requires strong English communication, adherence to safety rules, and the ability to work in a diverse team; CPR/First Aid certification may be required.

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED; prefer experience in day/residential programs for persons with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide group and one-to-one instruction daily.
  • Provide direct personal care including bathroom duties as needed.
  • Assist in applying behavioral management techniques per instructional plans.
  • Record daily progress toward ISP objectives.
  • Maintain classroom equipment and general facility cleanliness.
  • Assist with and meet Community Care Licensing regulations (Title 17 & 22).
  • Develop and maintain good rapport with customers, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Provide customer transportation before, during and after program.
  • Contribute to individualized service plan objectives and participate in customer meetings.

Summary

Works under direct supervision of program management to provide functional skills training and personal care to disabled customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED with a preference give to persons who have experience working in day or residential programs serving persons with disabilities.

Language Ability: Must possess ability to read, write and understand English. Strong oral and written communication skills are a must. Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions from supervisor.

Math Ability: Knowledge and ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.

Computer Skills: Must have working knowledge of personal computers. (Highly desirable)

Driving Skills: Must possess a valid CDL and have clean driving record.

  • Must maintain First Aid/CPR certificates and be able to meet California Community Care Licensing personnel standards
DUTIES
  • Provides group and one-to-one instruction daily

  • Provide customer transportation before, during and after program
  • Provide input to supervisor(s) regarding the development of individualized service plan objectives
  • Participate in customer meetings as needed
  • Attend required agency meetings and training as requested by Program Manager or designee
  • Perform other duties as assigned
