Job summary

Xavier College Preparatory seeks a part-time instructional assistant for a Kindergarten classroom. You will assist the teacher, supervise students, and help maintain a safe, organized learning environment.

The role requires 18+ years of age, a high school diploma or GED, and participation in Safe Environment training or signing the Diocese of Phoenix Profession of Faith form. Strong English communication and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Must meet the Diocese requirements for faith declaration (Catholics or sign Profession of Faith).
• Ability to supervise indoor/outdoor activities and maintain classroom routines.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff.
• Must be able to read and understand English sufficiently for job performance.
• Must meet physical requirements to perform duties safely.

Responsibilities

• Assists the classroom teacher and supervises students.
• Maintains a safe, clean classroom and supports setup/cleanup.
• Engages children in meaningful learning activities during class.
• Communicates with parents and staff about student concerns.
• Supports confidential handling of information about students and staff.
• Establishes cooperative relationships with school personnel.
• Punctual and flexible; performs other duties as assigned.

Part-time instructional assistant for Kindergarten classroom.

Essential Job Functions

• Assumes responsibility to assist the classroom teacher
• Assists in supervision and care of students
• Assists the teacher in maintaining a safe physical environment
• Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, and outdoor play
• Assists in classroom set up, clean up, and materials preparation
• Assists in arrangement, maintenance, cleanliness and security of the classroom
• Establishes good rapport with children
• Assists the teacher to work with individuals and groups of students
• Utilizes respectful individual and responsive care-giving practices with students
• Throughout class time actively engages children in meaningful learning activities and experiences
• Communicates appropriately with parents and staff and refers all parent questions and concerns pertaining to students to the teacher
• Assists parent volunteers helping in the classroom
• Treats confidential information about students, staff, and school aaffirs in a professional and ethical manner
• Establishes and maintains cooperative, supportive and effective relationships with all school and parish personnel
