Job summary

New Castle Community School Corporation seeks a paraprofessional to support instructional activities in a K-12 setting. The role involves direct student assistance, supervision, and aiding the teacher with classroom tasks and assessments.

The selected candidate will work with individual students or small groups, help maintain records, and contribute to a positive learning environment within the school.

Responsibilities

• Works closely with one or a few students on a regular basis in an effort to provide instructional support.
• Supervision of students being instructed.
• Extends instruction to students after initial teacher presentation.
• Works with small groups of students to reinforce instructional material initially introduced by teacher.
• Listens to students in recitation, reading, and other curriculum tasks by guiding and helping them.
• Accompanies students to whom assigned when trips to the office or to the school nurse are necessary.
• Establishes as fully as possible a supportive and sympathetic relationship with the students without fostering or encouraging intense emotional involvement.
• Checks students' work as directed.
• Administers tests and individualized assessments.
• Assists with pupil records.
• Makes and files copies.
• Use and care of equipment and facilities.
• Maintains positive public relations.
• Attendance is a priority and critical for the success of students.
• Other duties as assigned by supervising teacher or principal.
