POSITION DETAILS

This position works during the school year, 5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day. This position is open to external candidates only and is not available for internal transfer.

SALARY

Year Hourly Rate 1 $15.39 2 $16.02 3 $16.67 4 $17.31 5 $17.95 6 $18.60 7 $19.25 8 $19.88 9 $20.53 10 $21.16 11 $21.82 12 $22.35

The hourly rate for a current EVSC assistant will be based on years of service with EVSC in an assistant role. Annual, incremental pay increases are given for each year of service with the EVSC in this role if an employee has worked 120 days in a school year. New employees will begin on year 1.

BENEFITS

Employees enrolled in an EVSC medical insurance plan are eligible to use any of the three EVSCHealth & Wellness Centers. The health clinics provide primary care services, generic prescription medications, physicals, health screenings, and labs; all at NO COST to the employee or covered family member.

EVSC employees have access to the EVSC Wee Care Learning Centers. The Wee Care program provides a quality early learning experience for employees' children as young as six weeks through age five at a special employee rate.

This position will automatically be enrolled in the Public Employees' Retirement Fund (PERF) through the state of Indiana, which includes a defined benefit (Pension) as well as an Annuity Savings Account (ASA). Employees may also participate in a 403(b) Plan. Enrolling in the 403(b) plan allows employees to save for their retirement by making a pre-tax salary deferral contributions to the Plan.

Eligible employees may enroll in the EVSC group life insurance and long term disability plans. EVSC also offers a variety of voluntary insurance products through American Fidelity.

EVSC offers a free Employee Assistance Program (EAP). It is a confidential, voluntary service that provides professional counseling and referral services designed to help employees and their family members with personal, job or family-related matters.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This position is based upon student enrollment in this school building. Fluctuating student enrollment may make it necessary to move an employee to another school building or reduction in hours. Enrollment is evaluated at the start of a new school year. The EVSC works diligently to ensure employees maintain the position that they are hired for but in some cases, transfers may occur in order to effectively serve EVSC students.

SUMMARY

Assist the teacher in daily classroom and building activities. Classroom assignments and grades levels are based on student need as determined by the administrator.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Implement small group instruction based on student needs under direction of teacher.
  • Work cooperatively, as a team, with other teachers and assistants.
  • Follow plans to work with, motivate and engage various learners.
  • Assemble needed materials for small group instruction or interventions.
  • Use technology (e.g. computers, tablets, IPads) to maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance and other clerical functions.
  • Communicate in written and verbal form with administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders.
  • Perform recess, lunchroom and other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with set up of classroom and prepare materials for specialized instructional units.
  • Create and maintain educational bulletin board displays.
  • Escort and supervise students as they move to and from various rooms.
  • Attend training and implement various interventions and utilize positive behavior supports.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
