Job summary

City of Santa Fe Springs seeks a general summary role to assist in providing appropriate services to children within an inclusive classroom, closely following NAEYC criteria and DAP. The incumbent will aid in curriculum implementation, documentation for assessments, and individualizing instruction while working at the journey level in the class series with occasional instruction.

Job description

General Summary

Assists in providing appropriate services to children within the inclusive classroom while closely following National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) criteria and Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP). Aids in implementing the curriculum, acquiring documentation for assessment, implementing intervention strategies, and individualizing children's instruction. Works at the journey level in the class series and receives occasional instruction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilites
  • Plans and documents activities that meet the objectives of the curriculum.
  • Assists during small and large groups to facilitate the development of the diverse needs of children within the classroom.
  • Adapts materials necessary to meet the individual needs of children within the foundations of the classroom curriculum.
  • Participates with the classroom team by providing safe and effective early intervention/early childhood services.
  • Follows through with programs developed by the Early Intervention Team within the classroom environment in order to meet individual children's goals and objectives.
  • Supervises and implements appropriate hygiene habits for all children. Maintains a safe/healthy environment through sanitizing, cleaning mats, cleaning up various bodily fluids, and health checks.
  • Assists with positive open communications with children and their families.
  • Develops and organizes materials as necessary to meet individual children's needs and curriculum adaptations.
  • Assists with filing and organization of children's file material.
  • Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma (or GED equivalent)
  • Up to one (1) year of experience
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
Required Licenses Or Certifications
  • Class C driver’s license
