Minimum Qualifications
  1. Graduate from high school or equivalent; 48 units of college-level coursework; AA Degree or Certificate of Completion for NCLB requirements.
  2. Ability to read, write, and speak at a level sufficient to fulfill the assigned duties.
  3. Ability to communicate with and effectively supervise students.
  4. Ability to accept directions and carry out oral and written instructions.
  5. Ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship with others.
Brief Description of Position
  1. Assist and train students in personal needs such as feeding, grooming, and dressing.
  2. Provide physical assistance to students who cannot care for themselves, including feeding, diapering, turning, and mobility assistance.
  3. Prepare students for mainstreamed classes following established procedures.
  4. Provide instruction and assistance to severely handicapped students in social, self-help, and community skills.
  5. Assist students on and off the bus; push wheelchairs and lift students as needed.
  6. Tutor individual or small groups of severely handicapped students, reinforcing instruction as directed by the teacher; monitor student activities.
  7. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Additional Information

Applicants must submit an EdJoin application, transcripts showing 48 units of higher education or a Certificate of Completion for NCLB requirements. Fingerprinting and background clearance are required prior to employment. All new employees must provide proof of identity and work authorization in the U.S.
