Summary

The Harrisburg City School District is expanding opportunities to provide after-school programs to Refugee families. The (RSIG) STEAM Camp is an innovative program offering learning opportunities. The purpose of the program is to provide a 6-week summer program for Refugee children and families to experience and participate in STEAM and Mindfulness activities, aiming to close academic and emotional gaps caused by breaks in educational services and family stability. The program will explicitly teach coping skills to manage the impact and effects of traumatic events.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or working toward an Associate Degree in Human Services/Education, or equivalent experience in refugee client services and/or case management.
• Excellent reasoning ability and good judgment while representing the program.
• High professional and ethical standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including spelling and grammar. Bilingual is preferred.
• Basic mathematic computation skills.
• Manual dexterity to operate a computer and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Publisher.
• Proficiency in email use, including address groups, forwarding, file attachments, and organizing files.
• Experience with data entry, ensuring speed and accuracy.
• Experience with other computer applications is a plus.

Work Environment

Ability to work effectively in a team environment. This position will be based out of Harrisburg School District buildings.

Salary

$16.50 per hour, not to exceed 300 hours in the grant year.

Specific Responsibilities

The RSIG Paraprofessional assists in planning STEAM and Mindfulness events, delivers curriculum resources, organizes and plans for summer camps, and works directly with scholars.
