Job description

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs, a growing and dynamic organization dedicated to offering hope through education, is seeking an Instructional Aide to join our award-winning team. As an Instructional Aide, you will support students through individualized supervision and instruction, assisting with their IEPs, and implementing classroom and community-based activities.

  1. Assist classroom teachers in creating a safe, welcoming environment that promotes high expectations for student learning.
  2. Implement curriculum and behavioral strategies aligned with each student’s goals.
  3. Monitor and instruct students during lessons to ensure fidelity and help them meet academic requirements.
  4. Track student progress and communicate updates to teachers.
  5. Manage student behavior consistent with Spectrum policies, collaborating with teachers for consistency.
  6. Support students academically and socially, encouraging skill development across various domains.
  7. Complete documentation on student behavior and progress, reporting observations and making recommendations.
  8. Assist with preparing behavioral reports and activity logs.
  9. Communicate student needs and progress with team members, supervisors, and parents, maintaining confidentiality.
  10. Participate in accreditation, meetings, and respond to feedback.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with passing of basic skills test.
  • Associate degree or higher in education or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a state driver’s license.
  • Paraprofessional or similar credential preferred.
  • Experience working with children, especially in special education.
  • Experience with autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, or challenging behaviors.
  • Comfort with driving or riding in a company van with students.
  • Ability to respond calmly and quickly in emergencies.
  • Strong communication, organization, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with technology, including instructional tools, Microsoft Office, and basic office equipment.
