Job summary

Envision Education seeks an Instructional Aide to support students with learning or behavioral needs in a full-inclusion Special Education program. Positions available at Impact Academy Middle Grades (6-8) and Impact Academy High School (9-12).

Reporting to the Principal, the aide collaborates with Special Education and core teachers, providing 1-on-1 and small-group guidance to help students succeed. This role emphasizes equity and collaboration within Envision’s anti-racist framework.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Commitment to Envision Education's mission and to anti-racist and pro-Black ideologies.
  • Knowledge of adolescent growth, development and behavior characteristics.
  • Ability to implement students' IEPs or behavior support plans.
  • Ability to collaborate with general education and special education colleagues, parents and community.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid technology skills including Word, Excel, or other database program.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Learning Specialist and general education teachers to support students with learning or behavioral needs.
  • Follow and implement intervention plans to meet IEP goals or intervention plan goals.
  • Assist with collecting and recording observational data related to progress or behavior management.
  • Organize special education files and maintain online IEPs and related records.
  • Under supervision of Learning Specialists, assist with screenings or assessments and prepare materials.
  • Document student progress toward meeting established objectives.
  • Assist with communication related to intervention strategies or IEP services.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Envision Education seeks Instructional Aidesto provide support for students with learning or behavioral needsin our full-inclusion Special Education program.

  • 1 Instructional Aide at Impact Academy Middle Grades (Grades 6-8)
  • 1 Instructional Aide at Impact Academy High School (Grades 9-12)

Reporting to the Principal, the Instructional Aide will collaborate closely with Special Education and core subject Teachers, working 1-on-1 and in small groups to guide students to success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Instructional Aide may work with a specific student, or with small groups of students who require Special Education services to support academic progress. The Instructional Aide works as part of the Learning Center and intervention teams. Responsibilitiesinclude:

  • Assists Learning Specialist (Special Education Teacher)and general education teachers to support students with learning or behavioral needs
  • Follows and implements intervention plans or processes to provide service and support to students to meet IEP goals or intervention plan goals
  • Assists with collecting and recording observational data related to academic progress or behavior management
  • Organization of special education files, student learning records, data entry related to maintaining on-line IEPs, assists with record keeping
  • Under supervision of Learning Specialists, and without analysis, assists with screenings or assessments, including formal documentation, preparing materials and performing clerical support
  • Documents student progress towards meeting established objectives
  • Assists Learning Specialist with communication related to implementing intervention strategies, IEP services or compliance
  • Learns and utilizes basic methods and procedures in instructional settings
  • Understands and communicates the mission, goals, standards, policies procedures, confidentiality standards, operating instructions, values of Envision Schools and the Special Education program
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associates degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Commitment to the mission and vision of Envision Education
  • Commitment to anti-racist and pro-Black ideologies in the workplace.
  • Knowledge of adolescent growth, development and behavior characteristics; concepts of cognitive development and different learning styles
  • Ability and willingness to support every student with learning needs and to implement students' IEPs or behavior support plans
  • Ability to assist students in various subject areas
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing conditions; ability and good judgment to take initiative to modify activities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with general education and special education colleagues, parents and community
  • Solid technology skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, or other database program, and Internet search
  • Desire to work and learn as part of an innovative special education and school team
  • Ability and willingness to reflect and improve
  • Prior experience working with secondary students with learning needs and a diverse student body
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Competitive pay with benefits, pay commensurate with education and experience range $24 - $31/hour. This is an 11 month, non-exempt, 40 hours per week position.
