Job summary

Kaufman Independent School District is seeking a reliable print shop assistant to manage day-to-day operations and support district printing needs.

You will operate copiers and poster makers, prepare files for production, and collaborate with staff to meet deadlines while maintaining a safe, organized work area across multiple sites.

Qualifications

  • Prioritize workload and schedule duplication requests to meet completion dates.
  • Establish clear communication with administration and teachers; work as part of a team.

Overview

Facilitate the operations of the Kaufman ISD print shop. Operate one or more types of duplicating machines and poster makers. Work under general supervision to provide printing needs for the district.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and multi-task
  • Effective communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to operate large volume printers and poster makers
  • Ability to use personal computer
  • High attention to detail / quality control
  • Ability to work well with staff and students

Experience: Some experience working in a school setting

Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assist in meeting the deadlines of printing requests for the purpose of ensuring prompt response to and delivery of printed materials to school sites and administrative departments.
  • Maintain speed copying machines, equipment, tools, supplies and work area for the purpose of ensuring a safe work environment and the availability of equipment and supplies required to complete work requests.
  • Operate a wide variety of print shop equipment (e.g., copiers, staplers, thermal binding, spiral binding, large paper cutting machine) for the purpose of completing printing requests from district personnel.
  • Prepare jobs according to requested requirements (e.g., printing, collating, cutting, stapling, binding, packaging) for the purpose of packaging jobs for distribution to school sites or administrative departments.
  • Prioritize the department workload for the purpose of maximizing efficiency.
  • Schedule requests for duplicating services received from school site staff (e.g., bulletins, newsletters, booklets, and special requests) for the purpose of ensuring availability of completed materials by the requested completion date.
  • Maintain neat and orderly work area.
  • Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of print shop equipment.
  • Attend training related to equipment used in the print shop.
  • Order print shop supplies and provide copy paper to all Kaufman ISD campuses as necessary.
  • Prepare files for print production; check fonts, links and colors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with administration and teachers; work as a leader and member of a team through cooperation and collaboration.
  • Maintain professional relations with colleagues, learners, and community; use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
