Job summary

U.S. Bank in Minnesota seeks an experienced onboarding leader to direct and coordinate operational activities for assigned regions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically eight+ years of relevant experience in financial services, onboarding, or operations.
  • Experience leading onboarding, trust/ custody onboarding, or operational readiness functions.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable regulations and risk management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Direct onboarding activities from engagement through handoff, coordinating multiple entities.
  • Establish transition strategies, governance, milestones, communication plans, and escalation protocols.
  • Oversee documentation review, KYC coordination, account setup, funding, asset conversion and readiness for ongoing administration.
  • Allocate resources and balance capacity, service commitments and risk across onboarding portfolios.
  • Lead workflow simplification, procedure development, and technology change for onboarding.
  • Represent onboarding capabilities in client, prospect, finalist, and business-line discussions.
  • Coaches and develops leaders; manages performance, succession, engagement and talent planning.

Job Description

Directly and through staff, manages and coordinates the operational activities for assigned functional area(s)/region(s). Ensures quality service and effective operations support for all assigned internal and external customers. Leads high performance teams of both entry level and skilled professionals by setting goals, providing ongoing feedback, measuring progress while recognizing success and building accountability with employees. Oversees adherence to corporate policies and procedures and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations within area of responsibility. Participates in the review and improvement of operational systems and procedures relevant to assigned units.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Directs onboarding and implementation activities from initial engagement through operational handoff, including complex, multi-entity conversions.

  • Leads workflow simplification, procedure development, documentation standards, technology change, and continuous improvement.
  • Represents onboarding capabilities in client, prospect, finalist, and business-line discussions.
  • Builds partnerships across Relationship Management, Account Management, Operations, Product, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Technology.
  • Coaches and develops leaders and professionals; manages performance, succession, engagement, and talent planning.

  • Determines onboarding approach, resource priorities, escalation paths, and operational readiness within delegated authority.
  • Interprets and applies onboarding procedures and service models; recommends exceptions or escalates matters requiring additional approval.

RISK ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provides oversight of onboarding governance, documentation quality, issue management, exceptions, and escalation.
  • Partners with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Audit, and Operations to address findings and implement sustainable controls.
  • Reinforces timely, accurate, and complete execution throughout the onboarding lifecycle.
Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience - Typically eight or more years of relevant experience

Preferred Skills & Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in financial services, institutional trust, custody, onboarding, implementation, operations, account management, or client relationship management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading professional teams and driving cross-functional client, operational, or strategic initiatives.
  • Thorough knowledge of operational functions, systems, procedures, and the products and services supported by the assigned business area.
  • Strong understanding of applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial products, programs, financial analysis, and related documentation.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Well-developed client relationship and customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proven supervisory and people leadership capabilities.
Preferred Leadership Experience
  • Leadership experience supporting institutional trust and custody onboarding, account opening, KYC, asset conversion, implementation, or operational readiness functions.
  • Experience developing scalable processes and leading technology, workflow, operational, or organizational change initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of trust and custody operations, client service models, project management methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and advise senior leaders while managing complex relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Track record of driving operational excellence, improving client experiences, and delivering results in a highly regulated environment.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $133,365.00 - $156,900.00
