SLU, which also has a campus in Madrid, Spain, is recognized for world-class academics, life-changing research, compassionate health care, and a strong commitment to faith and service.****JOB SUMMARY**The Institutional Research Analyst II conducts institutional research activities to support University planning, decision-making, and process/program improvements; applies methods of social research and statistical analysis to issues related to student success, faculty compensation, student matriculation trends, and program review, extracts, analyzes, and reports University data to internal and external constituencies. Manages the collection and compilation of data required to perform internal university research and communicates results of the qualitative and quantitative research to internal stakeholders in the form of written reports and data visualizations containing complex and statistical data analysis.**PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*** Conducts surveys and research: participates and advises on survey design; provides advice on research design, information resources* Prepares and/or participates in the preparation and presentation of institutional data for academic portfolio, and academic program review* Analyzes a variety of institutional data such as, but not limited to, that for student outcomes (including enrollment, retention, graduation, and experience)* Prepares reports and projections to support decisions on student success, and institutional impact* Assist with the compilation of statutory required and accreditor required reports including but not limited to IPEDS, the Missouri Department of Higher Education, and the Higher Learning Commission* Extracts data from various university systems, validating information for accuracy and consistency, and to fulfill internal and external reporting and ad hoc data requests* Creates standardized, reproducible reconciliation, analytic and reporting workflows* Serves on various working groups, task forces, and committees such as, but not limited to, university-wide data governance committees* Revises and creates clear, accurate, and user-friendly data visualizations using Tableau and Power BI that transform complex datasets into actionable insights for institutional planning, reporting, and evaluation and supporting strategic decision-making* Performs other duties as assigned**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES*** Strong proactive and creative problem solving skills* Ability to think critically and analytically* Ability to manage complex projects* Ability to meet critical deadlines* Ability to manage multiple assignments, deadlines and priorities* Ability to understand and analyze quantitative information* Ability to maintain a high degree of integrity while professionally handling confidential data* Ability to master new and emerging technologies to the benefit of the university.* Ability to review and synthesize literature, conduct statistical analyses, interpret data, and identify trends.* Ability to build reports, and interactive charts/graphs using tools such as Tableau (Power BI, or Google Analytics)**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*** Master’s degree* Three or more years of related experience**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*** Doctorate in applied statistics, economics, data science, or other related quantitative field* Experience in institutional research or institutional effectiveness office* Familiarity with higher education data, including data structure, content, uses, challenges, and the subsequent reconciliation and reporting of such data* Strong quantitative and analytical skills, and demonstrated ability to translate complex data into clear and concise reports and visualizations for academic and leadership decision-making support* Demonstrated ability to establish and foster interpersonal relationships across a variety of academic units, administrative offices, and data consumers, and to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholder audiences**Function**ProvostScheduled Weekly Hours:40Saint Louis University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
