Job summary

RBC Capital Markets, LLC in Minneapolis seeks an Institutional Portfolio Analyst to provide accurate investment portfolio data, reconcile portfolios, and manage client billing. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
  • 1-2 years of financial services industry experience.
  • Working knowledge of fixed income and equity securities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, basic formulas).
  • Strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately reconcile investment portfolios - audit accounting data for accuracy and reasonableness, identify and resolve holdings and transactional discrepancies in a timely manner using multiple data sources, and track outstanding issues and ensure resolution.
  • Communicate accurate data to the Investment Management and Client Service teams - communicate critical portfolio information to investment management and client service, ensure the flow of time sensitive information and follow through on actionable items.
  • Set-up, generate and review client invoices for the firm's management fees using the Revport billing system.
  • Contribute to cross-departmental initiatives and work groups. Participate in operational projects focusing on automation, efficiency, and the scalability of Institutional Portfolio Operations services.

As an Institutional Portfolio Analyst at RBC Global Asset Management, U.S. you are the key provider of accurate investment portfolio data to RBC GAM-US.Your primary responsibilities encompass three general areas: communication of accurate data to multiple internal groups, accurate investment portfolio reconciliation and the billing of our institutional clients.

What will you do?
  • Accurately reconcile investment portfolios - audit accounting data for accuracy and reasonableness, identify and resolve holdings and transactional discrepancies in a timely manner using multiple data sources, and track outstanding issues and ensure resolution.
  • Communicate accurate data to the Investment Management and Client Service teams - communicate critical portfolio information to investment management and client service, ensure the flow of time sensitive information and follow through on actionable items. Organize data from multiple sources in a manner that is accurate and can be efficiently interpreted by end-user teams. Notify Investment Teams of portfolio cash balances and pending cash needs.
  • Set-up, generate and review client invoices for the firm's management fees using the Revport billing system.
  • Contribute to cross-departmental initiatives and work groups. Participate in operational projects focusing on automation, efficiency, and the scalability of Institutional Portfolio Operations services.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field
  • 1-2 years of financial services industry experience
  • Working knowledge of fixed income and equity securities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter that is client services and solutions oriented. Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem solving and strategic thinking skills and capable of meeting tight timelines under high pressure situations with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to independently manage competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPS, basic formulas)
Nice-to-have
  • 2-3 years of Fund Accounting and/or portfolio analysisexperience in the asset management industry

The expected salary range for this particular position is $55,000-$95,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
