Responsible supervisory work directing the operation of an institutional kitchen; and related work as required.

  1. High school diploma or GED.*
  2. Two years of experience in institutional or commercial food preparation, one year of which must have been supervisory.


Note:If appointed, employees in this classification must obtain a Louisiana State Department of Education School Food Service Training Certification during the probation period. No probationary period may last longer than one year. Failure to obtain a Louisiana State Department of Education School Food Service Training Certification during the probationary period will result in termination. Employees terminated under this provision must wait one year from the date of termination or obtain the above listed certification to be rehired.

* Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education claimed by the applicant. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.

A rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes; however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years.

This is an original entrance examination.
