Job summary

Livingstone College is seeking an Institutional Data Analyst to support the Office for Institutional Research. This full-time exempt role manages data from ingestion to reporting, delivering accurate data for budgets, grants, and operations.

The analyst will collaborate with researchers, manage multiple projects, and present data clearly to diverse audiences while ensuring compliance and data security.

Qualifications

• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage time-sensitive projects concurrently in a collaborative environment.
• Degree in data analytics, computer science, economics or related field, plus 2–3 years of relevant experience or equivalent experience with data manipulation software.

Responsibilities

• Develop and document standardized data collection and intake processes.
• Coordinate with internal/external researchers to obtain datasets.
• Clean, validate, and standardize datasets for accuracy and consistency.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Analyze datasets to support requests from President’s Office, grant-writers, and the public.
• Assist in data storage, dashboards, and ensuring data is accessible to authorized users.
• Present complex data and analytical content to diverse audiences.
• Ensure data handling complies with agreements/regulations and safeguard confidentiality.

Position Summary

Livingstone College is a private, non-profit institution of higher education offering the AA/AS, BA/BS and MBA degrees. The Office for Institutional Research (IR) provides data-driven and statistical profiles of the institution, students, faculty and staff that support budgets, grant-writing, and operations. IR seeks a self-motivated, analytical, experienced Institutional Data Analyst to assist in overseeing the life cycle of data from ingestion to cleaning to analyzing, compliance, quality assurance, and reporting. Thus, ensuring that published reports are accurate, valid, and reliable. The Institutional Data Analyst reports to the AVP for Institutional Research in the Division of Institutional Effectiveness Special and Sponsored Programs. This is a full-time, exempt position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participate in development and documentation of standardized data collection and intake processes.
• Coordinate with internal and external researchers / writers to obtain datasets.
• Clean, validate, and standardize datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Analyze datasets to help the team meet rapid response requests from the President’s Office, grant-writers, and the public.
• Assist in data storage systems, maintain dashboards, and ensure data is readily available to authorized users.
• Assist in presenting complex data and analytical content to a wide range of audiences on a need-to-know basis.
• Assist in ensuring that data handling complies with relevant agreements and regulations, monitor and enforce data security and confidentiality standards.

• This position requires experience managing projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience

What you will need to be successful!

• Strong written and oral communication skills;proficiency with Microsoft Suite, the ability to organize activities and work well with others.
• Exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, the ability to manage time-sensitive projects concurrently in a collaborative environment.
• A degree in data analytics, computer science, economics, or a related field, plus 2-3 years of relevant experience preferred; Or
• An equivalent combination of education, specialized training and directly related professional experience with software used for data manipulation.
