Job summary

The Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking a qualified candidate to plan and coordinate offender activity programs, working with treatment teams to identify eligible participants and coordinating community project engagements.

Qualifications

  • Four or more years of correctional experience or related social services.
  • Earned credit hours from an accredited college may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis (30 credit hours per year).
  • All required documents must be received by the closing date listed.
  • Contingent pay differentials may apply for shifts and facility type.
  • There is a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years.

  • Monitors files and works with treatment teams to identify offenders for program participation and refers to community service or job sites.
  • Schedules and supervises offender groups or workers outside the facility; coordinates visits.
  • Assists offender groups in selecting community projects and engages volunteers and employers to provide opportunities.
  • Performs work per established rules, receives direction, and handles other related duties as assigned.

  • Plans/develops/coordinates new or revised facility activity programs, including offender organizations, work release and/or education release; confers with supervisors and various facility department heads with regard to activity planning and scheduling for the purpose of developing a more comprehensive program
  • Monitors files and works with facility treatment teams in order to identify offenders eligible for participation in program activities; monitors and maintains records of eligible participants; makes referrals to appropriate community service or job site
  • Schedules and supervises offender groups or workers functioning outside the facility; schedules volunteer and related groups for visits to the facility
  • Assists offender groups in selection of community projects within the community for an effective volunteer program; enlists the support of interested volunteer and professional groups and employers in making their programs or jobs available to offenders
  • Performs work in accordance with established rules and regulations; receives general and administrative direction; and preforms other related work as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Four or more years of correctional experience, or vocational or paraprofessional experience in social services, probation and parole, corrections casework, guidance and counseling, mental health, health, substance abuse, law enforcement, public or business administration, or experience closely related to the listed responsibilities.


(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 credit hours for one year)

Contingent upon your position, you may also be eligible to receive:


  • A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center).
  • A $0.75 per hour medium security or $1.50 maximum security differential if you work full-time at a qualifying facility.
  • A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential if you are assigned a regular post within a restrict housing/segregation unit at any facility.

The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years!
