Transport Refrigeration, Inc. in Rockford, IL is hiring a Transport Refrigeration Unit Installer to install APUs, cab heaters, coolant heaters, and refrigeration systems on commercial vehicles. This full-time role involves hands-on shop work with occasional off-site installations and travel for training.

You will perform new and used installations, meet time targets, operate forklifts and hand tools, and maintain a safe workspace while supporting fleet customers and OEMs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain EPA 609 certification.
• Willingness to travel for training and installations.

The full‑time role focuses on installing auxiliary power units (APUs), cab heating and cooling systems, and new or used refrigeration units for commercial transport vehicles. You’ll work hands‑on in our shop and occasionally off‑site, helping to keep refrigerated fleets running smoothly.

What You’ll Do

What You’ll Need

• Willingness to become certified in EPA 609 Refrigerant Handling, TriPac APU Installation, and forklift operation
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and work in a physically active environment
• Strong communication skills and a positive, team‑first attitude
• Availability to travel to other locations
