Job summary

The Reformed Church in America in Kingsford, Michigan is seeking a pastor to guide and care for the congregation through worship, teaching, and service. Job description

We seek a pastor who will encourage, guide, build, and maintain relationships with the entire congregation and community via study, worship, and teaching the Word of God. The pastor will perform baptisms, funerals, weddings, as well as other pastoral duties. The pastor will provide counseling and spiritual support for the members, and help to coordinate community resources and support, as appropriate.

In addition to moderating the session, we expect the pastor, along with session membership, to discern if the current actions of the congregation are in line with future growth opportunities and desires in meeting the intent of our desired actions/outcomes. The pastor will ensure the congregation is well positioned to reflect the love of Christ to our community. The pastor will provide leadership and direction to the church staff. The pastor will ensure the congregation and session arefollowing the guidelines of the Presbytery and Synod.

The pastor will contribute to music either through coordination or direct participation. Music has always been an integral part of our services to the congregation and community, and we would wish for this to continue.

We seek a pastor to assume the role of spiritual leader of the church. This would be accomplished by having a God-centered life and reflecting that through service, worship, interactions with congregants, children, church business, and as part of the entire community.

We look forward to bringing whom God calls into our church family who has excellent leadership and communication skills, fresh ideas, a heart for service, and a Holy Spirit-filled enthusiasm to guide us in a spiritually positive manner. Our mid‑week educational and service programs are vibrant at the K-8 level but need growth and support at the high school and young adult levels. The pastor will bring their vision and experience to service efforts by leading,planning, and recruiting others to come along as we look to express our faith. We are deeply connected with our community. Our annual Christmas dinner serves over 600 people (625 meals served this year), and our weekly Soup Kitchen prepares and distributes 185-200 meals each Monday. We are intentional in making our building available for use by many diverse church and community groups. The church is located adjacent to the Kingsford High/Middle School, and students are invited to hang out in our facility on Wednesdays and on all school testing days. With this, our outreach includes multiple children and youth events, which our Youth Director coordinates.

These programs are vibrant, filled with excitement, and are examples of the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. Our ideal candidate must be just as excited as we are about these ministries and continuously striving to bring new ideas to outreach.
