Job summary

Ipsen USA is seeking an Installation Supervisor in Chicago to lead on-site furnace installation projects, manage a field team, and coordinate with contractors and customers.

The role requires strong mechanical/electrical skills, budget and schedule oversight, and travel up to 50% both domestically and internationally as needed. You will mentor staff and ensure safety and quality across installations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or certification preferred.
• Minimum four years of experience in a service/contractor organization with large capital equipment installations.
• Prior supervisory or management experience preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% with domestic focus.

Responsibilities

• Direct contractors and Ipsen field personnel for rigging, millwright, piping, and electrical tasks.
• Monitor work for quality and safety; ensure equipment is plumb, level, and square.
• Maintain on-site installation schedule and budget.
• Lead the on-site team; assign work and priorities.
• Communicate daily with customer on progress and objectives.
• Participate in project kick-offs and design discussions.
• Identify and develop vendors to quickly acquire missing parts.
• Review installation requirements and Ipsen contractual responsibilities.

Position Summary

As directed and assigned by the Installation Manager, Ipsen's Installation Supervisor is responsible for performing hands‑on technical work as well as overseeing and directing onsite installations of Ipsen furnaces, including people management. This includes learning and understanding the requirements for installing Ipsen vacuum furnaces, working onsite to either complete the installation of the furnace independently, with a team of Ipsen field service personnel, or with contractors engaged by Ipsen for the project, supervising Ipsen resources on‑site, resolving customer needs, and ensuring efficient and timely execution of projects.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Direct contractors or other Ipsen field service personnel for rigging, millwright, piping, and electrical installation tasks.
• Monitor work for accuracy and quality, identifying issues such as loose or missing fittings and poor wire connections, and verify equipment is plumb, level, and square. Ensure repairs or corrections are made as necessary.
• Oversee site safety requirements for Ipsen employees, contractors, vendors, and customer employees, with a goal of zero accidents and zero lost time.
• Review installation requirements and understand Ipsen's contractual responsibilities.
• Maintain the installation budget, by using available tools to control costs, lost time, and overtime.
• Maintain required management reporting including installation schedule, job performance and projections.
• Carefully review any contractor change order requests, determine validity.
• Maintain and control/track the installation schedule to maximize site performance.
• Resolve challenging situations or conflicts in a calm professional manner.
• Lead the on‑site team day to day — assigning where people work, setting work priorities, and determining what must be completed before close of day. Refer unresolved disputes to the Installation Manager.
• Participate in installation proposal creation, design drawing, engineering, and equipment specifications.
• Attend and participate in project kick‑off meetings for customers and contractors as required.
• Communicate with the customer daily providing updates on work activities, goal progress, and near‑term objectives.
• Identify and develop vendors as needed to quickly acquire missing parts, pipe fittings, bolts, or wiring components to ensure continued progress of the work.
• Gather and disseminate competitive intelligence to the Ipsen team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of rigging, millwright, pipefitting, and electrical trades, closed‑loop cooling systems, welding, etc. to execute large‑scale installations.
• Safety Management skills.
• Ability to coordinate with contractors, customers, and vendors to effectively execute installations.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to read and interpret project drawings and schematics.
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time. Travel will primarily be domestic; however, some international travel may be required.

Education And Experience

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required, associate degree or additional certification in Engineering, or related technical field, preferred.
• Minimum four (4) years of experience in a service/contractor organization with a proven track record of successfully executing large and complex installations of capital equipment.
• Prior supervisory or management experience preferred.

• Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

• Occasionally required to sit.
• May be assigned to locations with high level of noise with no temperature control and dirty environments.
• Regularly required to climb up to 6 ft with safety harness.
