Job summary

Overhead Door Company of Greater Syracuse is seeking motivated individuals to start as Garage Door Technician Apprentices. No prior experience is required; you’ll be trained on the job, learning to install and service doors and openers.

This physically active role offers real growth, with hands-on learning from day one and potential to become a lead technician, estimator, or supervisor. Join a fourth-generation family business serving Central New York since 1924.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to lift 75 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Mechanical aptitude or background in trades is a plus.
• Valid NY driver's license with a clean record.
• Able to pass a standard drug test and a DOT physical.
• Reliable, punctual and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist in installing and servicing garage doors and openers.
• Learn mechanical skills and product knowledge.
• Maintain safe, clean job sites.
• Help with materials, inventory and basic paperwork.

Are you mechanically inclined and ready to learn a trade? We’re hiring motivated individuals to join our team as Garage Door Technician Apprentices. No prior experience is needed. If you’re dependable and hands-on, we’ll train you.

What Training Looks Like

Most of your training will happen on the job, working side-by-side with experienced technicians. As a helper/apprentice, you’ll gain practical experience right in the field. We also provide some classroom instruction, including expert-led sessions from David Mount at Mount On Site Training in Maryland, to round out your understanding of the trade.
