Job summary

Verizon is seeking a field operations technician to connect customers to Americas fastest and most reliable network. Youll be out in neighborhoods, installing, testing, repairing and maintaining the technology that keeps millions of customers connected.

Your responsibilities include installing and maintaining equipment, reading engineering plans, and working safely at various sites. A valid drivers license is required, and you may work evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of telecommunications technology and hands-on experience with field installations.
• Must have a valid state drivers license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a customer-facing environment.

Responsibilities

• Connect, disconnect, test, repair, and maintain equipment and wiring at various sites.
• Operate and maintain trucks and equipment needed for safe field operations.
• Install, repair, maintain, and test access lines for devices and services.
• Read and interpret engineering plans and vendor specifications.
• Climb ladders/poles; lift up to 100 lbs; work in evenings, weekends, holidays as needed.

What you’ll be doing…

Getting our customers connected to America’s fastest and most reliable network! You’ll be out and about in the neighborhoods we serve, installing, testing, repairing and maintaining the technology that keeps millions of customers connected.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Connecting, disconnecting, testing, repairing, maintaining equipment, inside wiring and wires at poles, underground or building terminals.
• Operating and maintaining trucks and equipment needed to perform work operations in a safe manner.
• Installing, repairing, maintaining, and testing access lines for all types of equipment and technology.
• Performing construction work using designated equipment for digging holes, placing poles, laying cable/conduit in the ground and unreeling, pulling and stringing wire/cable on poles.
• Reading and interpreting engineering plans and vendor specifications.
• Climbing ladders and poles, working aloft, perceiving differences in wire and cable colors, and moving/lifting items generally not exceeding 100 lbs.
• Working evenings, weekends, holidays and unscheduled shifts as determined by the needs of the business.

• Valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Related Associate Degree or 2 or more years of relevant work experience.
• Completed Verizon Technician Program or similar programs covering electrical or lineman training.
