Job summary

Chugach Government Solutions (CGS) is seeking an Installation Lead based in Chesapeake, VA to oversee day-to-day implementation of structured wiring, AV, VTC, and related IT installations. The role includes leading on-site teams, troubleshooting infrastructure cabling, and ensuring robust testing and reporting.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in IT/AV/VTC installations, familiarity with OSP/ISP cabling, and the ability to work in tight spaces.

Qualifications

• Must be US citizen.
• Must be able to obtain Top-Secret clearance.
• Experience leading IT/AV/VTC installations.
• Experience with inside/outside plant operation and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day implementation support for structured wiring, AV, VTC, and other IT systems.
• Lead on-site efforts for network cabling, power, equipment racks, and testing.
• Prepare and submit reports and required documentation for tasks.
• Develop material and equipment requirements; coordinate with drafters for drawing packages.
• Terminate, splice, test, and repair fiber, copper, and coaxial cabling.

Position Location

This position is based in Chesapeake, VA.

Hourly pay range: $30-$36/hr.

Job Overview

The role of the Installation Lead is to provide day-to-day implementation support for a variety of structured wiring, AV, VTC, and other communications/IT system installations. Responsible for troubleshooting and repairing Infrastructure wiring and related communications equipment. The Installation Lead is responsible for leading on site efforts for network cable plants, power connections, equipment rack mounting and outfitting, and final installation testing. Additionally the Lead is responsible for preparing and submitting required reports and other documentation required for the task.

Responsibilities

• Subject Matter Expert knowledge of OSP/ISP voice and network cabling, equipment and infrastructure,
• Must be able to use tools and test equipment
• Review, analyze and correct deficiencies in technical drawings and system diagrams to provide red lines and As-Builts.
• Provides technical solutions and recommendations to resolve installation discrepancies.
• Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities
• Works well individually or in a team environment
• Work in tight, cramped spaces such as equipment rack (IT) rooms and closets
• Work on ladders and/or move up and downward staircases as required
• Develop, material requirements and equipment requirements,
• Coordinate with drafters to develop and complete project drawing packages.
• Terminate, splice, test, maintain, and repair fiber optic (including fusion splicing), copper, and coaxial cabling
• Required installation reporting
• Other duties as assigned.

• Proven knowledge aspects of infrastructure and network cabling. Following best industry practices for infrastructure cabling and wiring within a variety of environments
• Experience reading installation drawings and tech manuals
• RF, multi-pin and fiber optic cable and connector building expert
• Proven knowledge of wired/wireless equipment installation and basic testing methods and procedures

Job Requirements

Mandatory

• Must be a US citizen
• Must be able to obtain a Top-Secret clearance
• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent
• Must have a minimum of Eight (8) years of experience of inside/outside plant operation and maintenance experience, installation, testing, and repair of telecommunications equipment and systems.
• Must have experience leading teams during IT/AV/VTC installations
• Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test.

Preferred

• Knowledge of DOD DATA centers
• Specific knowledge of operating principles of wired, wireless and RF environments
• Electronic Technicians Association (ETA) Certified Fiber Optic Installer
• ETA Certified Fiber Optic Designer
• Completion of Military IT/ET advanced training or civilian technical school equivalent
• Knowledge of C4I systems
• Current Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) certifications
• Working Knowledge of SPAWAR SIPH (Shore Installation Process Handbook)
