Job summary

Verizon in Boston is seeking a Field Operations Technician to install, splice, test, repair and maintain fiber‑optic networks that keep customers connected. • Valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Associate degree or 2+ years’ relevant experience preferred.
• Completed Verizon Technician Program or similar lineman training program.

Responsibilities

• Connect, disconnect, test, repair, maintain, install and rearrange company and customer equipment at poles, underground, or building terminals.
• Prepare for splicing, rearranging and terminating cable conductors.
• Install, repair, maintain and test access lines for all equipment and technology.
• Operate trucks and equipment needed to perform work operations safely.
• Read and interpret engineering plans and vendor specifications.
• Climb ladders and poles, work aloft, distinguish wire colors and audio tones.
• Work evenings, weekends, holidays and unscheduled shifts as needed.

What you’ll be doing…

Installing, splicing, testing, repairing and maintaining the technology that keeps millions of customers connected. Be part of a team that makes a profound impact every single day by ensuring that our fiber‑optic network performs reliably. Because here, better matters.Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Connecting, disconnecting, testing, repairing, maintaining, installing and rearranging Company and customer‑provided equipment, inside wiring, and wires at poles, underground or building terminals.

• Making necessary preparations required for splicing, rearranging and terminating cable conductors.

• Installing, repairing, maintaining, and testing access lines for all types of equipment and technology.

• Operating trucks and equipment needed to perform work operations in a safe manner.

• Reading and interpreting engineering plans and vendor specifications.

• Climbing ladders and poles, working aloft, perceiving differences in wire and cable colors, and distinguishing audio tones.

• Working evenings, weekends, holidays and unscheduled shifts as determined by the needs of the business.
