Job summary

Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is seeking an Installer Helper to support Installers in residential and light commercial HVAC projects. This role involves assisting with the installation of heating, cooling, ventilation, and related equipment in customers’ homes under supervision.

The position emphasizes safety, accuracy in paperwork, and a professional appearance. A high school diploma or GED is required, with EPA and local certifications expected; a valid driver’s license is also

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional HVAC training preferred.
  • EPA and safety certifications required by regulations for the work area.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and basic electrical concepts.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate/install tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Installer or Lead Installer in installing HVAC equipment in customers’ homes.
  • Support installation of heating, cooling, ventilation, and related equipment and accessories.
  • Assist in installing ducts and duct fittings.
  • Deliver and remove equipment needed for installations.
  • Complete paperwork neatly and timely.
  • Maintain clean and professional job sites and vehicles.
  • Represent the company professionally in all matters.
  • Maintain attendance and perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Welcome!

Assists the Installer or Lead Installer in the installation of residential and/or light commercial HVAC equipment and accessories. Work is performed under direct supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works under direct supervision of the Installer or Lead Installer to install HVAC equipment and accessories in the customer’s home

  • Assists with the installation of heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment, as well as accessories, in accordance with company requirements and manufacturer specifications

  • Assists in the installation of ducts and duct fittings

  • Performs duties so as to deliver of excellent customer service and sustain high levels of customer satisfaction

  • Assists in the delivery and removal of equipment needed to complete the installation work

  • Assists the Installer or Lead Installer in ensuring company property, vehicles, and tools are being properly used, maintained, and properly accounted for

  • As needed or required, completes all paperwork in a neat, accurate, thorough, and timelymanner

  • Represents the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in all business matters and concerns

  • Responsible with the Installer for keeping installation vehicle clean and neat both inside and outside in keeping with the company’s professional image

  • Performs similar/other duties as needed or assigned

  • Regular, reliable attendance

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED with additional training and 0 to 2 years’ experience in HVAC with technical training certification preferred

  • Must possess all valid licensing or certification as required by federal, state, provincial, or local governmental laws or regulations for the geographical work area

  • EPA and safety certifications required

  • Basic knowledge of the fundamentals of the operational functionality of heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment as well as related accessories

  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate, or learn to operate, all necessary tools and equipment

  • Basic skills in reading wiring diagrams

  • Effective communication skills to communicate with customer and to provide excellent customer service

  • Effective and efficient time-management and organizational skills

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record

  • Available to work flexible hours and on-call shifts as needed

  • Ability to stand and walk and to climb ladders and attic stairs and to maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces to access HVAC units. Ability to continually climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl

  • Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including but not limited to the following: hot, cold, outdoor, indoor, dry, humid, slippery surfaces, heights, and congested areas

  • Ability to safely climb 300lb load capacity rated ladders with a 30lb tool belt

  • Natural or corrected vision to see and focus for close, distance, peripheral vision with normal depth perception

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
