What You’ll Do
Project & Installation Execution
  • Plan, manage, and execute installation activities for tooling, equipment cells, and conveyance systems in General Assembly.
  • Develop Statements of Requirements (SORs), Installation Scopes of Work, construction requirements, and engineering change content.
  • Ensure installation methods comply with GM technical standards, safety requirements, construction codes, and documented processes.
Technical Leadership
  • Generate technical solutions for new and major vehicle programs, including subsystem designs and engineering changes.
  • Provide technical direction to installation suppliers and oversee the work of union trades to ensure safe and compliant execution.
  • Lead power‑on, debug, and validation activities to confirm system readiness and adherence to functional requirements.
Cross‑Functional Integration
  • Coordinate execution with ME Centers (Body, Paint, GA), plant personnel, suppliers, Controls, IE, Layout, Material, and GM Centers.
  • Support cost‑reduction, process‑improvement, and product‑enhancement initiatives across functions.
Planning, Finance & Schedule Management
  • Develop, track, and report project schedules, installation timelines, and contractor assignments.
  • Estimate project costs, manage spending, process supplier payments, and ensure adherence to financial controls.
Documentation & Communication
  • Communicate installation status, risks, and technical updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain project records, issue documentation, and ensure technical information is shared across engineering and plant organizations.
Continuous Improvement & Technology Awareness
  • Stay current on new technologies, competitive products, and construction/installation methods.
  • Identify and implement improvements in installation processes, engineering standards, and project execution practices.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Knowledge of manufacturing domains such as Press, Body Shop, General Assembly, Paint, or Propulsion.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Safety Management, or related field or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Journeyman’s Card with superintendent‑level installation or construction leadership experience.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical information across functions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, suppliers, and plant leadership.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working within union construction environments and supervising union trades.
  • High analytical ability for atypical or complex installation challenges.
