Job summary

A1 Garage is looking for an Installer to join our Phoenix-area team. You'll install residential garage doors, remove old units, assemble parts, and guide customers on upgrades. No prior garage-door experience is required—the team will train you, and you’ll complete a four-week apprenticeship at the A1 Training Academy in Phoenix.

We provide a wrapped van, tools, steady work, and benefits. Starting pay is competitive, with weekly pay and growth opportunities as you gain skills and customer trust.

Qualifications

• 21 years old and valid driver's license.
• Able to bend, climb, kneel and stand for long periods.
• Physically able to lift 75lbs and lift garage door panels above head.
• Able to stand on ladder and use basic hand tools.
• Must pass pre-employment drug test and background check.
• Reading, basic math and tablet/computer use required.

Responsibilities

• Install new garage doors for residential customers.
• Remove existing door and mechanical parts.
• Assemble mechanical parts and install springs, sections and hardware.
• Run wiring to connect equipment and test functions.
• Educate customers on upgrades and services and ensure satisfaction.
• Document activities related to installations.

The Job:

• Install new garage doors for residential customers
• Remove existing door and mechanical parts
• Replace worn or broken door parts using tools
• Assemble mechanical parts
• Install springs, sections, slats, and hardware
• Run wiring to connect equipment
• Lubricate and test mechanical parts for proper functioning
• Educate customers on upgraded parts and services and ensure satisfaction
• Document activities related to installations

Basic Requirements:

• 21 years old and valid drivers license (3+ years driving record)
• Able to bend, climb, kneel and stand for long periods
• Physically able to lift 75lbs, lift garage door panels above head
• Able to stand on ladder
• Basic knowledge of hand tools(Power drill, hammer, saw etc.)
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test (not including THC) and criminal background check
• Knowledge of basic software such as navigation apps, Google etc. as well as tablet and computer use
• GED or HS diploma not required, however reading skills as well as basic math skills (measurements, payments) are required
• Professional & approachable appearance
• Employment requires current eligibility to legally work in the United States

The Journey of an Installer:

• Our apprenticeship is a 4 week training program at the A1 Training Academy in Phoenix, AZ.
• A1 covers flights and accommodations for the duration of your training in Phoenix. (All apprenticeship/training weeks are paid at anhourly rate of $20/hour. You will typically work 45-50 hours a week while an apprentice, and qualify for overtime for hours over 40 in a week, so should average $1,000 a week or more.)
• Once you complete training, you will receive a $1,000 bonus, and graduate to a junior installer. You will perform your duties in and around your market. Boom!

Interview Process:

Our interview process is not long, but its thorough. We want to make sure that each person who joins the team is the right fit for A1. And that we are the right fit for you!

1. After we review your application, you will be contacted for an interview with a recruiter if we want to know more. Plan on up to 45 minutes.
2. Next step is an interview with the Area manager. Plan on approximately 30 minutes.
3. Next step is when the fun begins: you will be invited to ride along with one of our technicians so you can see what life at A1 is really like. Plan on ½ day.
