Job summary

Second Baptist School is seeking an Upper School Teacher to plan, organize and deliver an engaging instructional program in a primary classroom setting under the supervision of the Head of Upper School and fellow administrators. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred), state certification, and demonstrate a Christian ethos aligned with the school's mission.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; a Master's in education is preferred.
• State certification in teaching in the appropriate subject area.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials.
• Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and tests.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules.
• Maintain discipline in accordance with school policies.
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and adjust teaching strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and development.
• Update all necessary records accurately as required by school administration.
• Participate in department and parent meetings.
• Observe and evaluate student performance and prepare required reports.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all activities.
• Provide a variety of learning materials and resources.
• Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments.
• Communicate information to parents when requested.
• Participate in appropriate professional activities.
