Job summary

National Center on Institutions and Alternatives Inc is seeking a Special Education Teacher in Baltimore, MD. The role emphasizes structured, compassionate instruction aligned to IEP goals within a Maryland-approved nonpublic school.

You will collaborate with clinical and educational teams to create safe, engaging classrooms and monitor student progress, while maintaining compliant documentation and participating in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Valid Maryland Educator License in Special Education.
• Knowledge of IDEA, COMAR, and MSDE nonpublic school expectations.
• Experience working with students with emotional disabilities, autism, or intensive needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, individualized instruction aligned to IEP goals and state standards.
• Design engaging lesson plans and instructional materials for diverse learners.
• Implement accommodations, modifications, and specialized instructional strategies.
• Apply and support Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and schoolwide behavior systems.
• Maintain accurate academic, behavioral, and compliance documentation (MSDE/COMAR).
• Conduct ongoing assessment and progress monitoring to guide instruction.
• Participate in IEP meetings, progress reviews, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
