Job summary

Catherine Hershey Schools for Early Learning is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the Lead and Associate Teachers in implementing daily programs for children aged birth to 5. The role emphasizes social-emotional learning through group and individual activities and reports to the Assistant Director with updates and risks.

The position requires a High School Diploma with a CDA plan or equivalent credits, and a preference for CDA accreditation.

Qualifications

High School Diploma with the ability to obtain the CDA (12 college credits in Early Childhood or related) within two years of hire.
CDA Accreditation preferred from Council of Professional Recognition.
Up to 1 year experience with birth-5 years/early childhood education.
Level A/B PA ECE Career Pathway certification preferred.
Ability to work with low-income families and technology.
U.S. work authorization and pre-employment clearances required.

Responsibilities

Support Lead and Associate Teachers with lesson plans aligned to child outcomes and classroom routines.
Participate in classroom coaching cycles and engage with children to support development.
Supervise and ensure a safe, nurturing environment for children.
Recognize needs of individual children and groups; provide social-emotional supports.
Assist children with self-help and hygiene; support attendance and meal reports.
Maintain compliance with state licensing health, safety, and professional requirements.
Communicate with families through approved channels as assigned by the Lead Teacher.
