Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs seeks a Physical Education / Health / Driver Education Teacher at Van Jr./Sr. High School.

The 200-day position delivers instruction in physical education, health, and driver education in line with WV Board of Education standards and Boone County policies. The successful candidate will help students build fitness, wellness, safe driving skills, and healthy decision-making, while maintaining records and meeting state credential requirements.

Qualifications

• Valid West Virginia professional teaching certificate for assigned grades/subject areas.
• Appropriate endorsement(s) for Physical Education, Health, and Driver Education.
• Meets WVDOE and Boone County requirements for employment as a professional educator.
• Must meet requirements for behind-the-wheel driver education instruction and possess a valid driver's license.
• Maintain required certifications, training, and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide instruction in Physical Education, Health, and Driver Education consistent with WV standards and Boone County curriculum.
• Develop lesson plans aligned to students' age, ability, and needs.
• Provide instruction to promote lifelong fitness, wellness, and safe decision-making.
• Teach nutrition, physical activity, personal health, injury prevention, and health topics.
• Provide behind-the-wheel driver education instruction as assigned.
• Maintain a safe instructional environment and report unsafe conditions.
• Assess student performance and maintain records of progress and attendance.
• Differentiate instruction to address individual needs and IEP/504 accommodations.
