Job summary

Maury County Public Schools is seeking a Teacher (Regular Education) responsible for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans; delivering group and individual student instructions within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to inquiries from parents/guardians regarding progress.

Responsibilities

• Plans and administers instructional programs and conducts classroom operations in compliance with directives from School Administration, Board of Education policy, and state and federal laws and regulations.
• Responsible for the overall instruction, operation, management, and supervision of the classroom.
• Demonstrates a variety of methods to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments, addressing individual student requirements.
• Administers and develops subject specific assessments to evaluate student competency levels and develops individualized learning plans.
• Assesses student progress in relation to learning targets and monitors students in various environments to ensure a safe, positive learning environment.
• Instructs and counsels students to enhance academic performance, behavior, problem solving skills, health, and personal issues.
• Manages student behavior for a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Collaborates with staff, parents, and community resources to support school improvement and student outcomes.
• Supports and assists other teachers with curriculum implementation and student plans.
• Directs assistants and volunteers to administer an effective classroom program and address student needs.
• Advises parents of progress, communicates expectations, and reinforces goals at home.
• Responds to inquiries for information, standards, and resolution of issues.
• Gathers information and prepares written materials documenting progress and maintaining mandates.
• Participates in meetings and professional development.
• Addresses and reports incidents for student safety and compliance with policies.
• Responds to emergencies to resolve safety concerns.
