Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsements for the subject/grade.
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to the district curriculum and TEA guidelines.
  • Prepare lessons with accommodations for individual student differences.
  • Plan and use instructional strategies, materials, and technology suited to students’ needs.
  • Assess student learning and adjust instruction based on results.
  • Collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula per IEPs.
  • Coordinate with staff to set instructional goals and methods.
  • Plan and assign work to instructional aides and volunteers, and supervise completion.
  • Utilize technology to enhance the teaching/learning process.
  • Support student growth by helping improve study methods and habits.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Sponsor extracurricular activities as assigned by the campus principal.
  • Be a positive role model and support the school mission.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for student development.
  • Manage student behavior per the Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
  • Protect students, equipment, and facilities; exercise safety precautions.
  • Assist in selecting instructional materials and resources.
  • Maintain and file all required reports and records.
  • Establish professional communication with parents and community members.
  • Present information clearly and accurately.
  • Participate in staff development and stay compliant with regulations.
  • Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
