Qualifications

• Highly qualified with required competency in Earth Science content area.
• Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license for Earth Science (8-12).
• Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license; Master’sDegree with license preferred and/or expected within 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
• Plans a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
• Guides learning toward district curriculum goals with clear objectives for lessons and projects.
• Prepares for classes and shows evidence of preparation upon supervisor request.
• Uses varied instructional techniques and media to meet student needs.
• Implements district philosophy, goals and expectations in instruction.
• Assesses student progress and communicates with parents as needed.
• Maintains accurate, complete records as required by policy and law.
• Diagnoses learning challenges and seeks district specialist guidance as needed.
• Protects students, equipment, materials and facilities.
• Follows classroom code of conduct and establishes fair behavior rules.
• Plans and supervises assignments for paraprofessionals and conducts evaluations.
• Maintains ongoing professional growth to satisfy district requirements.
• Participates in teacher evaluation process and contributes to outcomes.
• Attends meetings to promote communication and mutual decision making.
• Participates in school activities as per contract.
