Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit is seeking a dedicated Group Exercise Instructor to lead energizing group classes in a safe, inclusive environment for all fitness levels.

You will provide instruction, monitor participant wellness, and adapt activities to accommodate varying abilities, injuries, or health needs. CPR/First Aid/AED and group fitness certs are required, with YMCA Foundations favored; experience is helpful, flexible scheduling essential.

Qualifications

• CPR, First Aid, AED certification required
• National group fitness certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise required
• 1 year of group wellness class teaching preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Leads energizing, safe, and educational group classes as directed by supervisor
• Maintains wellness knowledge to support members
• Builds authentic relationships with members and helps connect with the YMCA
• Observes and adapts classes to accommodate all participants' abilities and health needs
