Job summary

The YMCA in Hoover, AL seeks a dedicated part-time group exercise instructor to lead high-energy classes for all fitness levels at the Hoover Branch. You’ll arrive early, greet members, and guide participants toward their wellness goals within a welcoming community.

You will maintain a safe, clean space, follow YMCA safety procedures, and participate in trainings to keep certifications current. This role embodies the YMCA mission and values.

Qualifications

• Group exercise certification required or ability to obtain within timeframe.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain before employment.
• Specialty certifications for class formats as required.
• Strong communication and motivational skills.
• Passion for health, wellness, and helping others succeed.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, engaging, and effective group exercise classes for participants of all fitness levels.
• Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that encourages members to reach their wellness goals.
• Motivate, educate, and support participants throughout each class.
• Arrive early to set up equipment and greet members before class begins.
• Build positive relationships with members and help connect them to the YMCA community.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe fitness space.
• Follow YMCA policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
• Attend required trainings and staff meetings while maintaining required certifications.
