ACCEL Schools is hiring a highly qualified 6th-8th Grade Social Studies Teacher at Barber Preparatory Academy in Highland Park, Michigan dedicated to providing a superior education for all students. We are seeking teachers who are passionate and dedicated to bringing the curriculum to life for each student.

At ACCEL Prep Barber, you will prepare engaging lessons, differentiate instruction, and collaborate with colleagues while supporting students' social-emotional growth and community

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
• Active Michigan teaching license in appropriate content area.
• Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidential information and pass background checks.
• Experience in urban education environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver lesson plans with the ability to modify accordingly during the school year.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
• Utilize research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom.
• Create a positive classroom environment for students to learn in.
• Utilize school-approved curricula reflecting diverse backgrounds.
• Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
• Communicate and meet with families regarding academic and social-emotional growth.
• Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice.
• Participate in planning and implementation of non-instructional activities.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
