Job summary

Southwest Elementary Global Academy in Lexington, North Carolina is seeking a 2nd Grade Teacher to join our Lexington City Schools family. This exempt, 10-month position reports to the Principal and focuses on planning, organizing and presenting instruction to support students' educational and social development. Starting date is immediate.

Salary is based on state and local salary schedules. You may supervise teacher assistants and contribute to a collaborative, student-centered learning

Qualifications

• Degree in education or in a related area that will qualify for licensure as a teacher by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

Responsibilities

• Management of Instructional Time: prepare materials and keep students on task at the start of each lesson.
• Management of Student Behavior: enforce rules and monitor behavior during class and transitions.
• Instructional Presentation: deliver lessons with clear objectives and relatable examples.
• Instructional Monitoring of Student Performance: check progress and provide feedback.
• Instructional Feedback: give prompt feedback on classwork and assignments.
• Facilitating Instruction: align objectives, strategies and assessments with curricular goals.
• Interacting Within the Educational Environment: treat students fairly and engage with staff, parents and community.
• Performing Non-Instructional Duties: perform duties as assigned and pursue professional development.
