Job summary

Sumter School District in Sumter, South Carolina is seeking a dedicated 1st Grade teacher for Lemira Elementary. This full-time position requires a Bachelor's degree or higher and a valid South Carolina teacher certificate in Early Childhood or Elementary Education.

The role operates on a 190-day calendar with salary and year to be established by the Board. The teacher will plan lessons aligned to standards, deliver engaging instruction, maintain records, and foster a safe, supportive classroom

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher is required.
Valid South Carolina teacher certificate in Early Childhood or Elementary Education.
Alternatives may be considered as the Board finds appropriate.

Responsibilities

Meets and instructs assigned classes at the locations and times designated.
Plans a program of study that meets student needs, interests, and state standards.
Establishes clear objectives for activities and communicates them to students.
Employs varied instructional techniques and media to suit locations and learners.
Uses classroom management to create a conducive learning environment.
Strives to implement district philosophy and instructional goals.
Maintains safety and protects students, equipment and facilities.
Maintains accurate records as required by law and policy.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
