Northview Public Schools Northview Public Schools Northview High School - Grand Rapids, Michigan seeks a part-time Assistant Varsity Competitive Cheer Coach to lead and develop the junior varsity squad for events and competitions. The candidate should have coaching experience, knowledge of cheer techniques, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to motivate student-athletes.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience, particularly at the high school or collegiate level.
• Strong knowledge of Cheer techniques
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
• Certification in first aid and CPR (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Coach and supervise the cheer team during practices, games, and events.
• Teach basic/intermediate cheerleading skills, including cheers, chants, jumps, and stunts appropriate to the age and skill level.
• Promote good sportsmanship, positive team culture, and academic accountability.
• Collaborate with the Varsity Head Cheer Coach to ensure consistency across the program.
• Plan and conduct regular practices, including conditioning and safety training.
• Maintain accurate attendance and injury records.
• Ensure all team members comply with school rules, academic eligibility, and athletic codes of conduct.
• Communicate clearly with student-athletes, parents, and school administration.
• Always maintain a safe and inclusive environment.
• Assist with cheer tryouts and team selections as needed.
