Job summary

GE Aerospace Indianapolis is seeking an Inspector to join our manufacturing team. The role focuses on ensuring consistent, defect-free aerospace components through precision measurement and calibration, using CMMs and a range of hand tools.

You will document results, troubleshoot equipment, interpret blueprints, and contribute to process improvements while adhering to safety standards and producing quality parts for diverse applications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience using micrometers, verniers, calipers, height gages and indicators.
• One year in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with basic machine and tool operations.
• Identify and use a variety of power and hand tools.
• Read, understand and use procedures and basic math.
• Perform precise and detailed work.
• Communicate effectively within the team.
• Adhere to safe work practices and be able to work shifts.

Responsibilities

• Use hand tools and measuring equipment to ensure specs are met.
• Document calibration inspection results.
• Perform inspections and calibrations per written instructions.
• Choose inspection methods and techniques.
• Troubleshoot equipment and systems problems.
• Perform functional, mechanical and visual inspections.
• Verify calibration status of measuring/test equipment.
• Understand inspection activity impact on defect-free delivery.
• Set up and calibrate equipment; interpret results to standards.
• Interpret blueprints to ensure specs are met.
• Develop clear feature labels and reports for data retrieval.

Job Qualifications

• High school diploma OR HSE
• Previous experience utilizing hand measurement gages such as mics, verniers, bore gages, calipers, height gages, and indicators.
• One year of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Familiarity with simple machine and tool operations
• Understand how to identify and effectively use a variety of power and hand tools.
• Read, understand and utilize procedures, detailed computerized build plans, and basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to perform precise and detailed work.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with others within the team.
• Follow and promote safe work practices.
• Demonstrated ability to participate in a team environment.
• This role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek. As such, a requirement of the role is to be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.

Job Responsibilities

• CMM experience
• Use hand tools and measuring equipment to ensure specifications are met
• Document applicable calibration inspection results.
• Perform specific inspections and calibrations according to written instructions.
• Designate appropriate inspection methods and techniques.
• Troubleshoot equipment and systems problems.
• Perform functional, mechanical and visual inspection.
• Verify the calibration status of all measuring and test equipment used in the work area including reference material.
• Understand the relevance and importance of inspection activities and how they contribute to the delivery of defect free products.
• Set up and calibrate equipment, interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards and specifications.
• Interpret and evaluate inspection results with respect to applicable codes, specifications and standards.
• Establish and perform preventative maintenance procedures for inspection equipment.
• Perform periodic work reviews and audits to ensure compliance to the system requirements.
• Interpret blueprint drawings and ensure specifications are being met.
• Develop consistent/logical feature labels and structured reports for data retrieval and ease of interpretation of inspection results.
