Job summary

Barnes Aerospace, Ogden Division seeks an Inspector to uphold stringent quality standards in manufacturing. The role emphasizes dimensional inspection, blueprint interpretation, and collaboration with engineers to resolve non-conformances.

You will work 3rd shift (10pm–7:30am) with a 17% differential; inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, Magna-mics, and related tools, contributing to continuous improvements while ensuring safety and housekeeping.

Qualifications

• Three+ years of manufacturing experience as a quality assurance dimensional inspector.
• Aerospace experience preferred (2+ years).
• Experience with a wide range of inspection equipment and mechanical inspection skills.

Responsibilities

• Dimensionally inspect parts at in-process and final stages per customer specifications.
• Perform visual inspections and identify non-conformances with engineers.
• Interpret blueprints and apply general tolerances.
• Gather and analyze in-process and final inspection data.
• Provide timely feedback to QM based on inspection data.
• Assist with process and inspection improvement projects.
• Perform in-process and final inspection on parts.
• Identify, document, and report non-conformances.
• Interpret drawings and apply tolerances using basic math.
• Learn and apply quality system procedures.
• Follow safety and housekeeping standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

3rd shift / 10pm-7:30am Monday - Thursday w/alternating Friday

17% shift differential

Core Responsibilities

• Dimensionally inspect manufactured parts at the in-process and final inspection stage utilizing various measuring devices, such as micrometers, calipers, height gages, magna-mic, etc. per customer specifications.
• Perform visual inspections on all parts to identify any blemishes and work with Engineers in determining any non-conformances of parts and/or processes.
• Interpret and understand blueprints to follow specifications of general dimensioning and tolerancing .
• Assists in the gathering and analysis of in-process and final inspection data.
• Provide timely feedback relative to data collected on in-process inspection to QM.
• Assist with process and inspection improvement projects
• Performs in-process and final inspection on parts.
• Identifies, documents and reports process and product non-conformances.
• Interprets drawing symbols and uses simple math to calculate tolerances and apply to inspection duties.
• Learns and applies quality system procedures.
• Learns and adheres to required safety and housekeeping standards and practices.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) years of manufacturing background as a quality assurance dimensional inspector.
• Prefer two (2) years in Aerospace industry.
• Experience using a wide range of inspection equipment and skilled in mechanical inspection and fundamental layout techniques.
• Ability to read, interpret and understand blueprints, engineering drawings and must be able to pass a required annual vision test.
• Ability to utilize various measuring devices such as: Micrometers, Calipers, height Gages, and Magna-mics.
• Ability to pay exceptional attention to detail and have the capacity to handle multiple tasks effectively under deadline pressures while following direction and completing assignments accurately and on time.
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to plan and perform difficult work processes.
• Interact and communicate in a professional and effective manner with all levels employees.
