Job summary

AECOM is actively seeking an Inspector/Office Engineer to join our Hunt Valley, MD team. The role supports construction engineering and inspection efforts, working with the Resident Engineer, inspectors, and contractors to ensure documentation, contract administration, and payment processes are accurate and compliant.

Responsibilities include setting deadlines, training staff, conducting daily inspections, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma plus 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required, due to the nature of the work.
  • Valid US Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.

  • Provide on-the-job training to new employees.
  • Perform daily field inspections and maintain inspection records.
  • Monitor conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and project documentation for QA purposes.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to address inspection concerns and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Communicate inspection findings, recommendations, and project status updates to management and engineering teams.

Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an Inspector/Office Engineer to join our team and support ongoing construction engineering and inspection efforts in the Hunt Valley/MD area. This role will play a critical part in supporting a construction project from the project office. They work closely with the Resident Engineer, Assistant Resident Engineer, inspectors, contractors, and SHA staff to ensure project documentation, contract administration, and payment processes are accurate and compliant.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for setting own project deadlines
  • Provides on the job training to new employees
  • Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties
  • Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records
  • Participates in punch lists, testing, and commissioning activities
  • Tracks quality assurance progress and documents inspection findings
  • Provides input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers
  • Coordinates with contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to address inspection concerns and ensure compliance with project specifications
  • Documents deficiencies, non-conformances, and corrective actions required to meet contract requirements
  • Prepares detailed inspection reports and maintains comprehensive project documentation for quality assurance purposes
  • Communicates inspection findings, recommendations, and project status updates to project management and engineering teams
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma plus 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education
  • U.S. Citizenship is required, due to the nature of the work
  • Valid US Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience preparing monthly pay estimates, tracking quantities, and processing change orders
  • Knowledge of SHA Standard Specifications, Standard Details, and construction manuals
  • Experience reviewing contractor schedules and monitoring project progress
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation, including daily reports, RFIs, submittals, and material certifications
