ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Ensures that all water system construction and/or improvement projects are completed in accordance with the Golden State Water Company approved Plans, Specifications, Special Provisions, Standard Drawings and Approved Material Guidelines List. • Ensures that all water system construction and/or improvement projects assigned to you are properly inspected. • Coordinates with Golden State Water Company Departments, including Capital Program Management, Engineering Design Center, Operations, and Environmental Quality to ensure proper coordination between the stakeholders is achieved throughout construction and prior to placing new improvements into service. • Manages Contract Inspectors to ensure that all construction is properly inspected. • Compiles As-built drawings, and prepares Closing packages. • Prepares Daily Inspection Reports including Chlorination reports, observes waterline pressure tests, collects and files materials tickets and compaction tests, tracks contractors time (labor, equipment, and materials) and measures and records depth and location of water facilities, trench backfill, and paving. • Performs "Field Checks" on all preliminary plans to assure completeness of plan and identify potential conflicts and/or provide input to more cost effectively complete construction. • Interfaces with local authority to ensure that the design and construction is in accordance with the City's or County's standard plans and permit requirements. • Assists in the preparation of Service surveys • Performs other duties as assigned. • Works under general supervision. MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: • High school diploma or equivalent required. • Two years related inspection experience or five years water system operation experience • DDW Grade II Water Distribution certification preferred. • Ability to communicate effectively. • Ability to effectively work in a MS Windows environment, including an ability to work with network folders, and the ability to effectively utilize MS Word, Excel, and MS Outlook. • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and water system maps. • Construction Management certificate/coursework preferred. • Construction Law coursework preferred. • Engineering experience/education preferred. May include working in all weather conditions, during all hours of the day. Physical demands include but are not limited to standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping and crouching, sitting, typing, walking, reading, writing, color determination, speaking and listening for extended periods of time. COMPENSATION INFORMATION The compensation range provided is in compliance with state specific laws. Multiple factors are used to determine the actual starting rate of pay for all of our positions, including specific skills, years of experience, education, certification(s), and other job related factors. Therefore, the individual filling this position will be required to both allow and pass a background check.
