Job summary

Pacifica Services, Inc. is seeking an Electrical/IT Inspector for the night shift to support LAWA’s Capital Improvement Program.

Must hold ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector certification and provide proof of NFPA 70E and Cal-OSHA 30 hr training within specified windows; SIDA badge required before start. Candidate will inspect electrical/IT systems on terminal construction, review plans and submittals, and document findings daily to ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, and LAWA standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in electrical/IT inspections for building construction.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections of electrical and IT systems across building/terminal projects.
• Review construction documents, blueprints, shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
• Prepare comprehensive daily inspection reports detailing the who, what, when, where and how.
• Verify contractor compliance with NEC, NFPA 70, 70E and LAWA standards.
• Track time-and-material work, field changes, and job quantities; assist in progress payments.
• Support special inspections and testing with engineers and third parties.
• Inspect underground utilities, high-voltage gear, conduit, lighting, and fire life safety systems.
• Inspect IT installations including low-voltage systems, readers, cameras, PA systems, and cabling.

Position Description Summary

This position is for NIGHT SHIFTThe Electrical / IT Inspector will support LAWA’s Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division across multiple projects within LAWA’s Capital Improvement Program.Candidates must possess a current ICC certification as Commercial Electrical Inspector to apply. Successfully hired Candidates must provide Proof of NFPA 70E standards training within the last 3 years and Proof of Cal-OSHA 30 hr. training within the last 4 years, prior to assignmentSuccessfully hired candidates must have LAWA SIDA badge prior to official start. Must be able to work any assigned shift - day, swing, or night - as required to meet the contractor’s construction schedule.

Professional Experience Level/Minimum Qualifications

Electrical/IT inspection staff shall have 3 years or more experience performing electrical/IT inspections for Building Construction.Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Electrical InspectorProof of NFPA 70E standards training within the last 3 yearsProof of Cal-OSHA 30 hr. training within the last 4 yearsTraining & knowledge of NFPA -70, 70E, & 72.Fall protection and harness training.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

Experience at the journey-level as an electrician, with a focus on the installation and repair of electrical systems in public works, institutional, commercial, or industrial settings.Experience overseeing and ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations on significant construction projects.Involvement in complex projects that require coordination with multiple stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and city officials.Expertise in identifying and addressing deficiencies, ensuring that all aspects of construction meet the required standards.Must be open to learning the prescriptive items required by the agency.A strong understanding of diverse code requirements,Excellent communication and time management skills.

Essential Job Duties

Conduct comprehensive daily inspections of electrical and IT systems across building and terminal construction projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project specifications, review and interpret construction documents including blueprints and shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.Demonstrates strong proficiency in preparing comprehensive daily inspection reports that clearly document the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW of all observed construction activities, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and accountability in tracking progress and identifying issues, deficiencies, or safety concerns in a timely manner.Verify contractor compliance with local and national electrical codes (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70, 70E, 72) and LAWA-specific standards.Track and document time-and-material work, field changes, and job quantitiesAssist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on an approved schedule of values.Support special inspections and testing activities, coordinating with engineers, contractors, and third-party agencies as needed.Perform inspections of electrical installations including, but not limited to:Underground utilities and duct banksHigh-voltage switchgear and electrical panelsConduit racks, conductors, and grounding systemsInterior and exterior lighting systemsFire life safety systems including smoke/heat detectors and FM-200 suppression systemsElectrical shutdowns, lockout/tagout procedures, and breaker coordinationInspect IT infrastructure installations such as:Low-voltage systems (voice/data, security, access control)Door card readers, security cameras, and public address (P.A.) systemsCommunication cabling and equipment rooms

Hardware/Software Knowledge

Knowledge of Project Management Information Software used for inspection/document control (i.e., Microsoft Office, Outlook, Xcel, Word, PM Web, Adobe Pro, Bluebeam, etc.)Computer proficiency to review and utilize electronic equipment for contract documents efficiently, with minimal supervision.
