Position Description Summary The Electrical IT Inspector will support LAWAs Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division across multiple projects within LAWAs Capital Improvement Program. Candidates must possess a current ICC certification as Commercial Electrical Inspector to apply. Successfully hired Candidates must provide Proof of NFPA 70E standards training within the last 3 years and Proof of Cal OSHA 30 hr training within the last 4 years prior to assignment. Successfully hired candidates must have LAWA SIDA badge prior to official start. Must be able to work any assigned shift day swing or night as required to meet the contractors construction schedule.
Essential Job Duties
- Conduct comprehensive daily inspections of electrical and IT systems across building and terminal construction projects ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project specifications
- review and interpret construction documents including blueprints and shop drawings submittals RFIs and change orders
- Demonstrates strong proficiency in preparing comprehensive daily inspection reports that clearly document the WHO WHAT WHEN WHERE and HOW of all observed construction activities ensuring accuracy clarity and accountability in tracking progress and identifying issues deficiencies or safety concerns in a timely manner
- Verify contractor compliance with local and national electrical codes eg NEC NFPA 70 70E72 and LAWA specific standards
- Track and document ti me and material work fi eld changes and job quantities
- Assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on an approved schedule of values
- Support special inspections and testing activities coordinating with engineers contractors and third party agencies as needed
- Perform inspections of electrical installations including but not limited to Underground utilities and duct banks
- High voltage switchgear and electrical panels
- Conduit racks conductors and grounding systems
- Interior and exterior lighting systems
- Fire life safety systems including smokeheat detectors and FM 200 suppression systems
- Electrical shutdowns lockouttagout procedures and breaker coordination
- Inspect IT infrastructure installations such as Low voltage systems voicedata security access control
- Door card readers security cameras and public address PA systems
- Communication cabling and equipment rooms
- HardwareSoftware Knowledge Knowledge of Project Management Information Software used for inspectiondocument control ie Microsoft Office Outlook Xcel Word PM Web Adobe Pro Bluebeam etc Computer proficiency to review and utilize electronic equipment for contract documents efficiently including change orders submittals RFIs and other inspection documents with minimal supervision

- May be required to work various shift s including day swing and night
- Shall be open to work modified schedules including nights and weekends as dictated by the contractors work activities and accelerated project schedules
- Availability to work overtime as required to meet project deadlines and ensure timely completion of tasks is preferred
Minimum Qualifications
- ElectricalIT inspection staff shall have 3 years or more experience performing electricalIT inspections for Building Construction
- Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Electrical Inspector
- Proof of NFPA 70E standards training within the last 3 years
- Proof of Cal OSHA 30 hr training within the last 4 years
- Training & knowledge of NFPA 70 70E & 72
- Fall protection and harness training
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Experience at the journey level as an electrician with a focus on the installation and repair of electrical systems in public works institutional commercial or industrial settings
- Experience overseeing and ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations on significant construction projects
- Involvement in complex projects that require coordination with multiple stakeholders including contractors engineers and city officials
- Expertise in identifying and addressing deficiencies ensuring that all aspects of construction meet the required standards
- Must be open to learning the prescriptive items required by the agency
- A strong understanding of diverse code requirements
- Excellent communication and time management skills
