Civil Field Technician
Primary Responsibilities

Fishbeck is seeking a full-time Technician to join our Civil Field team. The primary duties include field observation and documentation of construction contractors' activities for conformance with contract requirements. Willingness to travel and work outdoors is essential. This role offers valuable experience across various projects and opportunities for career development in field inspection.

Essential Functions
  1. Prepare detailed inspector's daily reports (IDRs), documenting work status, verification, and site conditions. Collaborate with office technicians for proper procedures and timely submissions.
  2. Complete and submit required calculations, sketches, and forms such as concrete placement reports, permit documentation, and inspection records.
  3. Verify construction adherence to contract specifications and communicate non-compliance issues to senior staff.
  4. Assist with Requests for Information (RFIs).
  5. Serve as liaison between contractors and senior technicians or engineers to resolve constructability issues.
  6. Communicate effectively with project team and stakeholders, including engineers, contractors, and residents.
  7. Work closely with senior staff to verify and document proper project execution.
Minimum Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, sit, and drive to project sites; navigate uneven terrain; read printed and digital materials; communicate verbally and in writing. Accommodations available for qualified individuals upon request.

Desired Education

Associates degree or equivalent experience.

Desired Degree

Associates in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Concrete Technology, or similar, or equivalent experience.

Desired Job Experience
  • 2-5+ years' inspection experience on DOT projects preferred; municipal or local agency experience acceptable. Familiarity with DOT documentation and Field Manager/Fieldbook is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license with good record; willingness to travel, work long hours, and weekends.
  • Effective communication skills; ability to follow directions and work independently.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office is a plus.
